Yesterdays rallies served many purposes in bridging alliances between wards to show that the Evansto Library System is a connection of people, places and ideas. People of all ages joined together in support of neighborhood libraries.
Libraries serve an muliple purpose in todays world. They are not just places that house books, they are or can be the heart of a neighborhood. They are places where people can go and no one asks them for anything.

In the past week there has been growing support to preserve and expand the branch library system in Evanston. The new budget which is schedued to be voted on in Feb. calls for the closure of the branch libraries. Even though it is less than 1% of the entire Evanston budget.
If you would like to sign the petition please go to www.branchlove.org Write your alderpeople, attend city council meetings, pass on the petition to friends and let the council know your thoughts. PLEASE GIVE US YOUR IDEAS

In the last 24 hours, two break-ins were reported in Evanston's 6th Ward. One on Central Park between Golf and Payne and the other in the 3300 block of Payne.
The Central Park residents were home and managed to scare away the intruder. At the burglary on Payne, sometime between noon and midnight, valuables were taken.

The writing is on the wall the North Branch will be closed. There are not enough votes on the council to save it.
What should be done?
