Our Campaign Journal is meant to provide a quick and easy way for you to stay connected in the month prior to our Consolidated Election on April 7th. We also will be using these updates to solicit your opinions and ideas on emerging issues of importance so that I can best reflect your views during the many conversations I am having with voters and other candidates. I look forward to hearing your feedback.

What Distinguishes the 6th Ward Candidates for Alderman?

Yesterday, Aldermanic candidates within the City of Evanston participated in the League of Women Voters’ forum held at our Civic Center. The 6th Ward candidates continue to offer a model of civility that we hope transfers throughout the City and to the new Council. While many of our views are in alignment and reflective of the majority opinions of our constituents, there are important distinctions among the candidates in terms of approach to service.

Jeanne’s Work Program as Mayor

Maintain a safe community

We do not need a 7th ward Alderperson who will not answer questions!

In todays debate at the Civic Center, Jane Grover when asked a question about Liz Tisdahl record as alderperson, declined to answer it.

What does this say?

Someone might say, well Jane doesn't know Liz Tisdahl record, but given Jane was lived in the ward and is running for Alderperson that makes little sense.

While it was clear the question by the other person running for council was an attack on Liz Tisdahl record.  One  has to wonder why Jane could not think of even one good action by Liz in her six years?

The difference between a lawyer and economist

(Opening statement, League of Women Voters Evanston forum)

Like all the candidates running for an Evanston office, I have lived in Evanston for a long period of time, have been involved in the community and am eager and willing to serve you in elective office. I would like to take this opportunity to explain why I am a unique candidate for 7th ward alderman.

Firefighters Endorsement Process (by John Zbesko)

Since the issue of the the firefighters union endorsements has flared up, I would like to describe my interview with the director of the firefighters' PAC.  I was eager to win their endorsement. I know several firefighters who are Evanston residents and I have coached some of their children and they have coached some of mine. I appreciate the major efforts they have made in helping elect Democratic candidates to county, state, and national office.
