Christopher Hart: Support from Alderman Edmund Moran (Looking Beyond Tuesday)

At our last forum, I took the opportunity to thank both of my opponents for making me a better candidate.  Engagement with thoughtful and passionate people is a powerful motivator on an individual level. What I have gained is a rich and deep understanding of the issues facing Evanston and the viable solutions we must seek to ensure progress. What the 6th Ward has gained, as expressed time and again by the local press, are candidates who are well-qualified, knowledgeable and have a strong desire for service.

In making your decision on April 7th, I encourage you to look beyond the requisite qualifications that 6th Ward Aldermanic candidates possess and consider the intangible characteristics that will enable a truly effective and representative voice on the City Council. For this reason, the support letter from Alderman Edmund Moran has been reprinted below.

I hope you will look to those in current service to provide perspective on the individual that can best perform and meet the demands of this critical public position. And, I hope I can earn your vote and partnership beyond Tuesday. -- Christopher Hart, 6th Ward Alderman Candidate

Hart of the Sixth

Citizens of the Sixth Ward are most fortunate to have Christopher Hart as a candidate for the open Sixth Ward seat on the Evanston City Council. Chris’ record of commitment to community issues in Evanston, his success as an entrepreneur, and his superb personal attributes make him the outstanding candidate in this race. I strongly urge all Sixth Ward voters to vote for Chris. He will make us proud to have him as our representative.

Chris worked for many years at the McGaw YMCA. He ran Camp Echo, nurtured Project SOAR (a mentoring program for at risk boys and girls) developed partnerships in quality child care and early childhood development, and eventually rose to the position of Executive Director of the Y.

Chris later established a business consulting group in downtown Chicago with several long-term colleagues. As an owner and entrepreneur, his firm has quickly established itself as highly successful in a highly competitive market and is in great demand.

Chris has established both city-wide and ward-based objectives. They include strong budgetary goals, economic development incentives, strong planning implementation of the master plans adopted in recent years, diverse housing, cooperative relationships with not-for-profits, and enhancement of fast-growing opportunities in the use of technology. High on his list are implementation of the Central Street master plan, preservation of the North Branch of the library, and implementation of the multi-modal transportation plan.

Chris is smart, hard-working, and collaborative. Please vote for Chris.

Alderman Edmund B. Moran, Jr.
