CSNA to Co-Host Public Forum Sept. 18 on the Future of Harley Clarke and Lighthouse Beach

CSNA is pleased to co-host a special program with NoParkSale and the Southeast Evanston Association on Weds., September 18 at 7 p.m. in the Parasol Room on the 4th floor of the Evanston Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue.

The program, Lighthouse Landing Park/Harley Clark Initiative: Next Steps will help attendees learn how other communities have saved historic properties for community use and provide an opportunity for you to share your ideas of how Harley Clarke can be repurposed for the benefit of the entire Evanston community.

Human Services Committee to review Harley Clarke status

The City Council’s Human Services Committee will consider next steps for community outreach on future uses of the Harley Clarke Mansion on Monday, September 16, 2013, at 6 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, Morton Civic Center.  The Committee is expected to receive the engineering report that is being conducted as requested by the Council/City Manager. Additional information will be posted at the CSNA site as available (around Sept. 13).

2013 Green Living Festival to Focus on Urban Forest on Sept. 28

The Evanston Green Living Festival is an annual event presented by the Evanston Environmental Association (EEA) and the City of Evanston, with financial and in-kind support from an outstanding group of Sponsors.  This year's theme is "Preserving & Protecting the Urban Forest"

Evanston Wilmette Community Golf Course is back and getting better day by day!  We hope you’ve witnessed our progress firsthand or have seen it chronicled in our latest newsletter.

Newsletter from the Golf Association Now Available Online

The Evanston Wilmette Community Golf Course Association newsletter is now available online at www.ewcgolf.org.

The newsletter provides the community with an overview of activities and the status of the course, which is in the midst of reorgnaization and rebuilding.  

Evanston City Council Votes "No" on Harley Clarke Mansion Proposal

On July 23, the Evanston City Council voted not to accept the proposal submitted by Tawani Enterprises for the development of the Harley Clarke Mansion site as a boutique hotel and parking garage.  The vote against the proposal was 6-3 after a discussion by Council members of the history and genesis of the proposal and opposition by members of the community to the plan as presented.

Golf Course To Host Celebrity Golf Tournament Honoring First Responders

The Evanston Wilmette Community Golf Course Association is pleased to announce that the course has been selected as the venue to host the Tour of Duty Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, Aug. 12.

In announcing the event, Perry Weinberg of Evanston, president of the golf association board, said, “We are thrilled to be the host course for this very special event that will recognize the contributions of first responders and members of the military who are on the front lines saving lives every day.”
