The Future of Development in the Central Street Corridor -Thursday, March 15, 2018

Join CSNA to learn about the state of development and the role of the Central Street Plan. We will be joined by a representative of the City to help the community gain insights into the process and what is on the horizon for development in our area.

The session is set for Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 42 meeting room, 1030 Central Street.

The discussion will be moderated by David Staub, CSNA President. Issues on the agenda include:

  • History and components of the Central Street Corridor Overlay District.
  • Developments since the Overlay District/Plan was adopted by the City Council.
  • The development approval process in Evanston, including the role of various agencies, commissions and boards, as well as City Council.
  • What are variances and how do they work?
  • What is the role of citizen input into the process?
  • Transit Oriented Developments - what they are, and how they fit into planning on Central Street.
  • The pipeline for Community Development that may impact the Central Street neighborhood.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. CSNA will hold its election of Board and officers for 2018-19 at the beginning of the meeting. All current members are eligible to vote, and may pay dues at registration.

Refreshments will be served. All members of the Central Street community are invited to attend

Aldermen to host community meeting on Feb. 27 on proposal to expand an ERUV in Evanston

The meeting, hosted by Ald. Wynne, Fiske and Revelle is set for Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Morton Civic Center in room 2404.

6th and 7th Ward Meeting, Thurs. Nov. 2

7th Ward Alderman Eleanor Revelle and 6th Ward Alderman Thomas Suffredin will host a joint ward meeting, Thursday,  Nov. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Three Crowns Park.

The subject for discussion will be the Fiscal Year 2018 budget with City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz and Assistant City Manager/CFO Marty Lyons. 

All residents are welcome to attend.

Three Crowns Park is located at 2323 McDaniel Avenue.

Shop Central Street on October 6 from 6-9 p.m. - Get a little retail therapy!

The Central Street Business Association will present its semi-annual RETAIL THERAPY NIGHT on Friday, Oct. 6 from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature special discounts, raffles, refreshments and giveaways form participating businesses.

7th Ward Meeting - Thursday, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. at the Ecology Center

Ald. Eleanor Revelle has announced that the next 7th Ward meeting will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 7 p.m. at the Ecology Center at 2424 McCormick Blvd.

Central Street Bridge Update

On September 14 the City's Public Works Department and Ald. Eleanor Revelle hosted a meeting at the Legion Hall to provide updates on the planning for the reconstruction of the bridge - slated for 2019-20. The meeting was held to address property that will be included in the final plan and land that will be used as part of the construction zone for staging of equipment and materials during construction. Land north and south of the bridge on the Canal Shores Golf Course will be used for this.
