I think the public needs some answers out our staff and the city council members.
The water department wants millions to replace the aging water piple, claiming we may not have adeqate fire water supply in the system. They want to increase water bills over 40% over the next few years.
So what will be the situation when the 708 Church project is built? I am not talking about fire fighters but if a fire occurs will the supply of water be adequate to fight the fire?
My question is we do not need a staff member runing up to speak at the planning meeting claim everything is fine, the public needs copies of the engineering studies and the summaries.
( if the usually occurs, a employee claiming everything is fine without backup, I will personal ask that the employee be held accountable in a few years when the start asking for millions to replace the downtown lines, that is fired for incompetance)
It is interesting how the two special meetings next week one on the water department desire to tax us more and the new project may tie together.
As I recall our not so bright council members are now talking about Impact fees, one would think you should understand your water system enough to be able to determine the impact of additional tall buildings and demands in a fire.
The general public can not be involved in all this. that is why we elected council members.
