Central Street gets a facelift this summer. Central Street, including its parking lanes, will be resurfaced between McDaniel and Ashland and from Asbury to Sherman. The project begins August 17 and is expected to take eight weeks.
Because Central Street belongs to the State of Illinois, funding for the project will come from the Illinois Department of Transportation. For more information, contact Paul Schneider, City Engineer, City of Evanston, 847-448-8291.

Resurfacing
The City supposedly sent out flyers to all residents affected with information about the project. We did not get it in Evanston Terraces. I found the flyer online and passed it out myself. (We have 43 units and more than 60 cars in our garage.) "No parking" signs were posted at the last minute and it seems they were torn down ...
The repair work is desperately needed. We also need some potholes fixed north of our property at Chancellor and Bryant. I guess that is a city project.
We noticed that vandals have already been at work, near our complex and outside the Baha'i offices with antisemitic "graffiti" in the fresh concrete. We have contacted the city and the Baha'i are also going to work wtih us to have this removed. It is a sad commentary that in Evanston - a well educated, fairly progressive community that is welcoming and so diverse - we find this type of vandalism. Debbie weixl
