In todays debate at the Civic Center, Jane Grover when asked a question about Liz Tisdahl record as alderperson, declined to answer it.
What does this say?
Someone might say, well Jane doesn't know Liz Tisdahl record, but given Jane was lived in the ward and is running for Alderperson that makes little sense.
While it was clear the question by the other person running for council was an attack on Liz Tisdahl record. One has to wonder why Jane could not think of even one good action by Liz in her six years?
Even an elderly neighbor, I know at the meeting who is a major supporter's of Liz Tisdahal question why Jane could not have answer the question in a positive light?
By the way that is usually what coucil members do, rather than answer your question they give you a line about how wonderful ever thing is going.
One has to question how will Jane function next year if elected given the rather ugly budget situation the council will face? Will she deflect hard issues and not answer them?
Jane also stated to the other two candidates running they need not answer a question asked about the endorsment by the fire fighters. Since she was the one they endorsed, since she believed the question was address to her.
Both others candidates ofcourse provided their answers.
Jane also appear to state while she supported the branch libraries by her use, that in the future it would be a forgone conclusion they would be cut. I was the one who asked the question hoping to see some idea how the next council member would work to keep them going. That is those running would have a thought process to continue their operation in the ugly budget we will face next year.
Jane also stated she had never attend an Administative and Public works meeting, this is of some concern to me, since the proposed increases to the water bills of over 40%, are based on the capital plan.
One thing Jane keeps on bringing up is the family planning issue the city cut a duplicate service she appears to want to bring back. She did not provide any numbers to back her statements, other than to say births went up.
While I find Jane to be a pleasant person,
having lived here almost twenty five years, and been active in issues, and I understand many support people for office based on their friendships and association, If people have any concern they better look very closely at the issues and how those running response. Remember it is only you money.

Seventh Ward Alderman - Taking the Fitfth
I agree with Junad. There is no reason that Jane Grover should not have commented. She reminds me a lot of Tisdahl who has sat with her mouth closed.
Maybe the "machine" has something to do with it?
