Homeowners and building landlords are responsible for clearing sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after a 4″snowfall. Landlords are also responsible for clearing parking lots within 24 hours after a 4″ snowfall.

Donations to the annual holiday toy and food drive sponsored by Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and local community organizations will continue to be accepted through Monday, December 20. There are now additional locations to drop off new, unwrapped toys and/or non-perishable food items. Please help make the holiday season joyful for as many families as possible! Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl is seeking volunteers to serve on a committee to review information submittals from companies interested in working with the City on a offshore wind farm in Lake Michigan. In addition to reviewing these submittals, the committee will make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on potential next steps on the project. Individuals need not have any specific experience in this area, just an interest in the subject.

There will be an increase in police tactical operations to combat the recent surge in residential burglaries in the 6th Ward. According to Officer Loyce Spells, EPD, this will include "covert activity for apprehension and suppression objectives, which means that you might not see the police but that doesn't mean that there not at work."

After many weeks without a Residential Burglary in the 6th Ward, our neighbors in the Hillside Neighborhood Watch were hit on this past Wednesday, October 13th. The first incident occurred in the 2700 block of Crawford where an unknown subject(s) made force entry into a home using a pry tool on the rear door (jewelry taken).

Every third Tuesday, starting September 21st from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., the EPD will be hosting a parent support group for parents/guardians/caregivers raising challenging teens. The sessions will be led by Gina Secemsky, School Social Worker at Oakton Elementary School and will take place at 1123 Emerson, Suite 200 (SASI Conference room). Dinner will be provided.
