On Feb. 22, 2012, the Eastwood development at 1700 Central Street took another step closer to construction as the City's Site Plan Appearance and Review Committee (SPAARC) has approved the foundation plans for the development. The developer will be submitting these plans to the Building Department, where a permit to begin construction of the foundation (excavation, some utilities work, site access control, and foundation construction) will be forthcoming in a matter of weeks.
In a related action, the City Council will act on an ordinance that will create 2-way traffic on Eastwood from Central Street south to the alley between Harrison and Central at the next City Council meeting.
The content of the foundation plans and the ordinance are both in accordance with the developer's approved planned development.
Please note that it is not unusual for the City to permit the construction of the building's foundation and the above-ground structure separately. Both building permits must be consistent with the approved planned development.
