Assuming it can get funding, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is proposing station, track, and structural improvements to its elevated rail lines, including the Purple Line (once known as the Evanston Express). The CTA is holding four public "scoping" meetings to inform the public about the project and also get public feedback on the proposed alternatives. These meetings will also factor into the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) the CTA will file with respect to the project.
There are four meetings scheduled between Jan. 24 and Jan. 27. The Evanston session will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, from 6:00 TO 8:30 p.m. at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St.
Following the meeting, public comments will be taken by the CTA by mail or e-mail until February 18. For more info, see http://www.transitchicago.com/RPMproject.
