Screening of movie about special needs children

Evanston Citizens for Appropriate Special Education will present the award-winning film “Including Samuel” at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009. The film, followed by a discussion, will be shown at the Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave. in Evanston.

“Including Samuel” is filmmaker Dan Habib’s inspiring and uplifting documentary about the educational and social inclusion of youth with disabilities. The film explores his personal story about his son Samuel, a boy with cerebral palsy, as well as the stories of several other families who illustrate the struggle for appropriate educational opportunities. It’s an important film for anyone interested in quality education for children in the 21st century. The film will be followed by a talk with Charles Fox, Special Education Attorney, who will discuss the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and its impact on children in public schools.
