Special Joint Ward Planning Meeting Tue., April 2

Sixth Ward Councilmember Tom Suffredin and Seventh Ward Councilmember Eleanor Revelle are co-hosting a Special Topic Joint Ward Meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. The main agenda item for the meeting is a visioning process with City planning staff, intended to provide input for a new Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code for Evanston. The overall process, which is ongoing, has been termed Envision Evanston 2045. The City comprehensive plan provides guidance for other decisions such as zoning permits, and was last updated 20 years ago.

The meeting will be both in-person and online. To attend in person, come to the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.. You can also join from home or online through the Google Meet platform (similar to Zoom), or by simply dialing in with a phone.

Joining by Google Meet will probably work best if you already have the app installed, although Google says that anyone should be able to join from a browser. CSNA has no opinion or recommendation one way or the other as to this app, but makes this information available. Note: if you want to be able to be seen or heard, you should first change your computer or device settings to allow your browser or the Meet app to access your camera and micophone.

The meeting will also feature a presentation by Leslie Shad of Natural Habitat Evanston about gardening more sustainably to support wildlife, the community, and the larger ecology.

CSNA hopes to host our own session for Envision Evanston 2045 but nonetheless encourages members to take advantage of the two northside Evanston councilmembers' April 2 meeting. We also encourage members to take the survey posted at EnvisionEvanston2045.com.
