Emerson St. Bridge in Evanston to close Monday

Emerson St. Bridge in Evanston to close Monday

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that weather permitting starting Monday, April 28, the Emerson Street bridge over the North Shore Channel in Evanston will be closed until the end of October for a bridge replacement project. A detour route will be in place for the duration of this project. Eastbound traffic will use McCormick Boulevard, Dempster Street, and Dodge Avenue to return to Emerson Street. Westbound traffic will use Dodge Street, Dempster Street and McCormick Boulevard to return to Emerson Street.

Motorists should be alert for detour signs in advance of the construction zone. Changeable message boards will be utilized to alert traffic.

Drivers should take alternate routes to avoid congestion.

The contractor on the $4.1 million project is Albin Carlson & Company.
