CSNA Rocks 2012 Fourth of July Parade

For the 6th year in a row, the Central Street Neighbors Association helped provide entertainment for the thousands of (this year) sweltering supporters and spectators in the Evanston 4th of July parade.

Driving the tunes this year was the young local rock band Opening Doors, average age 12, justly well-received by the crowd for a solid effort under extreme conditions.

The 4th of July parade can be a demanding venue and this year showed just how heated the street can get under hours of sun. The spectacle of helium balloons spontaneously popping was a new one to most parade veterans. But as one fellow I knew used to say in rock'n'roll, as long as you start together and finish together, all's well. Hats off to the band for grace under pressure and a big thanks to all the Board directors, CSNA members, moms, dads, and well-wishers who helped showcase this community's devotion to neighborhood, fun, and jams!
