Evanston Public Library Friends: Read-a-Thon Parties

Evanston Public Library Friends will celebrate National Library Week and the end of the Read-a-Thon with parties at the main library and both branches on Saturday, April 17th from 10am to 12pm.  Join the fun with face painting, balloons, sidewalk chalk, lemonade, and fun for the whole family! 
 
Bring in your Read-a-Thon money and collect your prizes, or stop by and take advantage of the last day to join Evanston Public Library Friends for Free. After April 17th, cost per family will be $25. 

New Trees for Central Street

Our Superintendent of Parks and Forestry, Paul D'Agostino, reports the following about the ash trees that were recently removed from the Central Street parkway in the business district:

Recent burglaries in 6th Ward

The Evanston Police have reported that two home burglaries occurred on March 20, roughly between 6 and 10 PM. The homes are located not far from each other in the 2600 block of Payne and 2300 block of Ridgeway. Burglar(s) gained entry to one residence by removing a window screen.

Comparison between AT&T and proposed Google internet service

At the CSNA meeting last night, I reported on the nascent effort to bring Google high speed internet investment to Evanston. Many people were concerned about a repeat of the ugly V-RAD boxes littering our parkways. The following is a response from another attendee to the first meeting held 2/23/10.

New rules for Council meeting times

The Administration and Public Works (A&PW) Committee will begin at 5:30 PM.  The Planning and Development (P&D) Committee will convene 15 minutes after the A&PW adjourns. The City Council meeting will convene 15 minutes after the P&D meeting adjourns, but not earlier than 7:00 PM.
