Calling all 6th Ward families

Evanston Fire & Life Safety Services will be hosting an open house to show off our new "green" engine. The open house will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Everyone is invited to join Fire Chief Klaiber and me to get a first-hand look at Engine 25 which will be responding to calls from Fire Station 5 at 2830 Central Street. Station 5 was the first LEED certified fire station in Illinois, so it is an appropriate home for the City’s first “green” engine.

Save Rose's Wheat Free Bakery

Dear gracious patrons of Rose's Bakery:

Since the announcement that the bakery may close, we have received an overwhelming response from you.  You have expressed your sadness and appreciation. You have shared your stories of what this bakery means to your family, and while doing so, you have lifted our spirits. We are making every possible effort to be here for you and your family. Now with just a few days to go, we're pulling out all the stops. It's time for a Hail Mary. Don't curse the darkness,  help light a candle.

We need your help.

WE ARE AIMING TO RAISE $104,000 BY NEXT WEEK, DEC 24th 2012.

Every donation counts. If we collectively meet our goal, we will stay open.

*If we do not raise $104,000, your money will be refunded. The absence of the bakery would be felt by many.

* Your donations will go towards the mortgage and necessary operating expenses.
