CSNA's second foray into the Evanston Fourth of July parade was as fun as our 2007 debut. Our old "Save Central Street" sign got an update.

Hailstorm in Evanston

If you missed the live version, click below to see about a minute of the short but intense hailstorm in Evanston on June 28, 2008, making a racket on roofs and gutters and decks. Marble-size to mothball-sized hail. Not the biggest hailstones but there was a lot of them. A surprising amount of bouncing.

I realize that watching week-old weather on the Internet is not everyone's thing. If that sounds lame to you, don't click. If you do like it, stay tuned for my next video, "Adventures in Home Repair: Watching Epoxy Harden."

4th of July Parade

The biggest and best old-fashioned small-town parade in the midwest is the Evanston 4th of July parade, which officially kicks off on the 4th.

Last year, accompanied by the band "Soap" on our Big Green Truck, those of the Central Street Neighbors Association not committed to other groups (we all wear multiple hats!) had a great time marching and received a ton of wonderful feedback from bystanders.

Fountain Square Art Fest Ongoing

One of the most fun things to do in Evanston every year, the 29th annual Fountain Square Art Festival is taking place this weekend, today (Saturday) until 6:00 pm, and tomorrow, Sun., June 29, from 10:00 also until 6. It's also a chance to check out the refurbished Fountain Square fountain-plaza and see how our $440,000 in tax dollars were spent :)
