Powerful Film on Plastic Bags Tonight at JRC

The award-winning documentary Bag It will screen tonight at 7 pm at the Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation (JRC) on 303 Dodge Ave.  Admission to the eye-opening film, directed by Susan Beraza, is free, courtesy of JRC and and Citizens' Greener Evanston (CGE). The film documents the impact of plastic bags on the environment, in particular the oceans, including the "garbage island" in the Pacific. The LEED platinum certified JRC temple is across the street from the Levy Senior Center.  A discussion on reducing disposable bag use in Evanston, and measures such as the disposable bag charge introduced by Ald. Coleen Burrus, will follow.
