Replace inefficient exit signs with LED signs

The City of Evanston is partnering with the Business Alliance for a Sustainable Evanston (BASE) to replace 1,250 old exit signs in our community with super energy-efficient, long-lasting LED signs, with potential to save businesses money and reduce our carbon emissions.   BASE estimates that there are more than 30,000 exit signs in the City.  The exit sign replacement program applies to any building with an exit sign – including non-profits, businesses (even if you rent or lease), condos, multi-family buildings, and churches.

By replacing 1,250 exit signs with LED signs, we can eliminate over six million pounds of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere, the equivalent of removing 528 cars from the road for a year, or planting 655 acres of forest.
