The Evanston Police Department will hold an auction of unclaimed bicycles Saturday, May 30, 2009, starting at 10 a.m., at 1454 Elmwood Ave. & Lake St., in the NE corner of the building. Bikes may be previewed from 9 to 10 a.m. The Department says that they have a "vast array of bikes," including a couple Cannondales, a Gary Fisher, an expensive racing bike, an adult tricycle, and a couple baby tricycle-strollers with long handles.
You can pick up some transportation and help our taxes at the same time, since proceeds from the bike auction will support the police pension fund.
Only cash and checks are accepted as payment. The Department advises that Photo ID is required for checks (would anyone really be dumb enough to use a stolen or bad check to pay the police???). For further information, call (847) 866-5029.
