Take Out a Book from North Branch Today!

Much has changed since 1952 when the North Branch Opened. Now it seems that in every recent budget cycle a proposal is made to close the branch libraries. 2008 is no different. The Evanston RoundTable reported 1/23 that in a closed executive session of the city council 1/12 city staff proposed cutting both branch libraries.

The North Branch Library has been a neighborhood cornerstone for over 55 years. Through this branch neighbors have access to the Evanston Library collection and the entire North Suburban Library System collection. Personal Computer stations and wireless access points provide visitors with the resources of the world wide web. There is a rental section of best-sellers. The reading area provides a wide range of newspapers and dailies. Many a school project deadline has been met by neighborhood students pouring over references and source material at it's oak desks.

North Branch is an institution of value for all residents of the Central Street neighborhood.
