4th of July Parade

The biggest and best old-fashioned small-town parade in the midwest is the Evanston 4th of July parade, which officially kicks off on the 4th.

Last year, accompanied by the band "Soap" on our Big Green Truck, those of the Central Street Neighbors Association not committed to other groups (we all wear multiple hats!) had a great time marching and received a ton of wonderful feedback from bystanders.

Everyone had such a good time, the band asked us if they could play again, and so we're sponsoring a repeat performance. Anyone in the neighborhood who would like to march with us ad enjoy a free concert is welcome! Because our main issue from last year, Central Street re-zoning, got passed, this year we have a simple message: Neighbors Working Together. But feel free to express yourself.

We are POSITION 98 in the parade. We will assemble at Sector 9, on the NORTH side of Central St. between Highland and Lawndale, on the 4th. The parade steps off at 2:00. We will have the truck there at 12:30. Please arrive by no later than 1:30. Bear in mind there is no parking anywhere near there on parade day; plan on walking a couple blocks, or get dropped off early, as they close the streets by 1:00.
