Ordinances 5-O-08 and 6-O-08 were introduced at the City Council meeting January 14, 2008. These ordinances make the text and map zoning changes that are necessary to implement the Central Street Master Plan. They were introduced as part of the council consent agenda by a vote of 8-0.
In an administrative move, these two amendments were also held in committee (Planning and Development). The Committee will thereby allow the neighbors of the proposed dormitory special use at 1620 Central time to meet with National-Louis University and will also allow for an additional period of public comment at the next P&D meeting 1/28/08. The neighbors of 1620 Central have indicated full support for the plan with the exception of the proposed additional special uses in overlay area 3 which includes 1620 Central.
This issue is expected to be resolved at the next P&D meeting and is not expected to alter the schedule for the final vote on all the changes at the City Council meeting 1/28.
Someone may still appear at the next P&D and Council meeting to speak on something other than the dormitory use issue, and questions still may be raised by some members of the Council. But so far no other issues than the dormitory use issue have been raised.
