1/10/08: 6th and 7th Wards Crime Prevention Meeting

Aldermen Eb Moran and Liz Tisdahl hosted a meeting 1/10 of the Evanston Police Department and approximately 50 neighbors from the 6th and 7th Wards (Police Beat 75) in the James Room at the Presbyterian Homes 3200 Grant St. Sergeant Dennis Prieto from the departments Problem Solving team presented tips on making residential property more secure.

Sergeant Prieto also provided an update on recent incidents in Beat 75. There has been an increase in residential burglaries generally throughout the north suburban area and that is reflected in an increase of 12% in Evanston for this year. Evanston now has a team of two supervisors and six officers addressing burglary.

Chief Richard Eddington in responding to questions about calling 911 encouraged residents to call the emergency number to report unusual activity in their neighborhoods.
