Two Meetings on City Plan, Starting TONIGHT

A quick heads-up on two City meetings related to the ongoing planning effort which will impact many future plans as well as likely moves to change at least some Evanston zoning starting later this year:

(1) 6th/8th Wards Virtual meeting tonight (July 17, 2025):
Residents of the 6th Ward (northwest Evanston, if you live west of Pioneer/Walnut) are invited to participate in a virtual ward meeting with residents of the 8th Ward (Evanston's southernmost, a 1/2-mile wide strip stretching along Howard Street from Crawford to the CTA yards) tonight on Thursday, July 17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Councilmembers Tom Suffredin (6th) and Matt Rodgers (8th) are expected to host. This meeting will be by Zoom only; this link has been distributed. For fairness, please let 6th and 8th Ward residents do any Q&A, but anyone may tune in.

(2) Special City Council Meeting on Comprehensive Plan
The City Council will have a Special City Council meeting on Monday, July 21, 2025 with the main if not sole agenda item being to discuss the most recent draft Comprehensive Plan rolled out through the Envision Evanston 2045 process. The agenda as of this morning is not on the City website but the meeting will likely be at 7:00 pm in Council chambers at 909 Davis, with Zoom access possible and live video feed.
