Your Support Mattered in 2020 ...

Thank you so much for your ongoing support of our community in such challenging times! I am writing to ask you to continue helping us work for a vibrant neighborhood that reflects our values and hopes for Evanston. Please renew your membership in the Central Street Neighbors Association.

CSNA was founded to help preserve what makes Evanston's Central Street a special place in a unique community. We’re thrilled that so many of the businesses on Central Street survived this difficult year thanks to their efforts and community support.

Despite COVID-19 restrictions, CSNA had a very busy year. Our informational materials and three thought-provoking candidate forums for the races for Evanston Mayor, 6th & 7th Ward Alderman, and District 65 School Board were viewed by thousands. The Dist. 65 Forum was covered extensively by the Evanston RoundTable and their article was linked to by the Atlantic Magazine.

We also hosted a shredding event for all those who took advantage of being at home to clean out old files!

We continue to support the revitalization of the Canal Shores golf course and the development of the Harley Clarke house and grounds, and to monitor the rebuild of the Central Street Bridge, Green Bay Road changes, and Northwestern's plan to bring commercial entertainment to their facilities. With a new city manager, mayor, city clerk and four new alderman, along with pending deliberations on how to spend recovery funds, it’s as important as ever to pay close attention to the work of the City through Council and committee meetings.

As a grassroots organization that receives no support from any outside special interest and has been entirely locally funded with memberships and small contributions, we continue to need your help and support! Here are some ways you can contribute:

  • Renew your membership:  "Together we have a stronger voice."
  • Attend our programs: Please come to our annual meeting on June 29th at 7 pm at the American Legion Hall, 1010 Central Street, 2nd floor.
  • Communicate: Check our website for information about Evanston issues and let us know what's happening in your area, as well as ideas for future forums and ways to improve our community and association.
  • Volunteer: We welcome your energy and ideas! Consider serving on our Board of Directors. Requiring as little as a few hours a month. It's a great way to give back to your community and get to know your neighbors, while getting deeper insight about what's happening locally.
