Evanston Lakehouse & Gardens Petition

Dear Evanston Mayor and Aldermen,

I urge you to vote yes on entering a lease with Evanston Lakehouse & Gardens. As the Gateway to the Great Lakes, ELHG will transform the Harley Clarke property into a fully renovated, multi-purpose venue for environmental education, community events, and cultural programming that will serve our residents now and for generations to come.

This plan has been well vetted through the City’s process. In June 2017, the Harley Clarke Planning Committee recommended entering a lease with Evanston Lakehouse & Gardens after 9-months of studying the issue; In October 2017, Evanston Lakehouse & Gardens was the only organization to submit a qualifying proposal in response to the City’s RFP; and, in November 2017 the City Council voted to approve Evanston Lakehouse’s RFP proposal and instructed the City staff to enter into a lease.

It’s now time to move forward and show support and enthusiasm for this project that will benefit our community. ELHG is the right vision for Evanston and it deserves your support.
