7th Ward meeting set for Feb. 13 to focus on Canal Shores Eco Plan and SPACE

Ald. Eleanor Revelle is hosting a meeting for the 7th Ward "Canal Shores Update" on Tuesday, Feb.13, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., in the Parasol Room on the 4th floor.

The following two items will be on the agenda:

•  Live at Canal Shores.  Jake Samuels, General Manager for SPACE, the live music venue at 1245 Chicago Ave., will present plans for a proposed outdoor concert to take place at Canal Shores Golf Course this summer. The concert is one of several events being planned for this summer to celebrate SPACE's 10th anniversary in Evanston. SPACE and Canal Shores are interested in receiving neighborhood feedback about the proposed concert.

•  Ecological Restoration Master Plan.  Steve Neumann, Canal Shores Grounds Committee chair, will present the results of a three-year data-gathering and evaluation project for the 82-acre golf course property. The master plan will serve as a set of guiding principles for the habitat restoration work at Canal Shores going forward.  This project was funded through a special matching grant from IDNR and through generous donations from neighbors and involved the efforts of volunteers throughout the community working with the consultant, PRI.
