Historic House Move set for March 5 on Green Bay Rd., Central St., and Crawford Ave.

Weather-permitting, on Thurs., Mar. 5, beginning around 6 a.m., the historic John Van Bergen Irving House, which has been temporarily housed in Whole Foods Store parking lot north of Central on Green Bay Road, will be moved to its new "HOME" location on Crawford Ave. near Glenview Road. 

To accommodate the move, traffic on a number of streets will be affected with rerouted traffic patterns and public transit schedules in effect for Green Bay Rd., Central St. and Crawford Ave.

The house will leave the Whole Foods parking lot on Green Bay Rd., just south of Isabella St., and will be will be moved south on Green Bay Rd. to Central St.. It will then travel west on Central St. to Crawford Ave., and continue west towards Glenview Road.

Although the City is making every effort to minimize the disruption to residents and businesses, for safety reasons and to facilitate movement, traffic signals on the route will be flashing red and through traffic will need to take alternate routes, including buses. Drivers and people taking public transportation are advised to allow extra travel time. 

Parking restrictions will be in place along the route and signs will be posted 48 hours in advance. There will be restricted parking in the busiess areas along Central Street beginning Weds. Mar. 4.

The City will provide a llve webpage beginning on Feb. 27 to provide information about the move as it becomes confirmed, such as transit service rerouting plans.
