"Run for Walk" on July 28 at Ryan Field

Last year, the inaugural Run for Walk welcomed nearly 1,000 Northwestern fans, supporters and friends of the late Head Coach Randy Walker, to honor the former head football coach. Once again this year, the 5k family walk will continue as part of the Run for Walk, a 4.1 mile run through the Central Street area tree-lined streets and along the lakefront on Northwestern's campus. Participants will finish on Ryan Field while watching their achievement on the video board. The unique run distance harkens back to Randy's uniform number 41 during his collegiate playing days at Miami University.

Registration fee for the run or walk is $37.50 (through 7/15 at 9 a.m., $40 after) and includes a short-sleeved, purple technical shirt, a ticket to a non-conference home football game and entry into the race day fitness fest. Northwestern students may register for $22.50.

The beneficiary for all proceeds is the Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) —a local organization caring and finding homes for lost and homeless pets that was important to Coach Walker.
