Evanston Township Assessor

As a life-time Evanstonian, I would like to express my qualifications for office of Evanston Township Assessor.

-Township Assessor 10 years
-Licensed Residential Appraiser/Illinois 14 years
-Real Estate Broker 25 years
-Certified Illinois Assessing Officer - 12 years
-Licensed Wisconsin Real Estate Agent
-BA Degree in Management/with honors/Mundelien College

Along with the above, I have taken approximately 40 courses through the Illinois Property Assessment Institute, Bloomington, Illinois, which are directly related to the Assessor's position.

The importance of this position is to educate the taxpayers on the various exemptions which are available to them and make sure that each and every taxpayer has the proper exemptions on their tax bills to help defray the continued increase we experience in Cook County.

As I mentioned I have lived in Evanston my entire life.
My grandfather was a mailman in the early 1900's and my mother and my son also graduated from Evanston High School.

I have deep roots in the community and continue to be on various Boards including my alumni Board at Mundelien College.

I hope to continue helping taxpayers. My office is very accessible at Main and Dodge and also very visible with a large sign posted.

Please feel free to drop in.

As the Evanston Township Assessor, I would like to urge all homeowners to attend the workshop this Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009. The City Council is proposing a 4.9% increase in property taxes to help balance their new budget.

As we are aware, next year, we will be having a Tri-ennial Re-Assessment. Because of the high taxes, many of the homeowners are being forced to leave Evanston.

Please support me in trying to urge the Council to find other ways.

Thank you.
