Also for consideration by the City Council tonight are multiple liquor ordinance changes: for D&D Finer Foods on Noyes, Aldi on Oakton, Chef's Station downtown, and a beer/wine license for Sodexo at 1501 Central. D&D, the holder of the only Class V license in the City, wants to be able to sell more than just wine and beer (i.e., spirits) and that change is being supported. Aldi on Oakton is getting a Class O license to sell alcohol. Chef's Station on Davis is changing its liquor class (meaning no net change in number of licenses).
That Central Street address is Ryan Field, and a peek at the 30 pages of application and supporting docs (pp. 254-284 in tonight's City Council packet) shows that college food service giant Sodexo wants a Class K license, i.e., to be able to provide liquor to private suites and private catered events at the stadium. So this is not the broad type of concession that has prompted student protests and actions against Sodexo at other universities. Likely it will pass without controversy.
Curious types can also get a gander at the Ryan skybox and catering menu, reprinted in full in the City packet.
