On Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. the Central Street Neighbors Association will host a public forum on the City of Evanston’s 2012 budget. The forum has been planned to provide for a wide ranging discussion of the current city budget and to solicit ideas for budget priorities for the next budget year.
The event will be held from 7-9 p.m., in the Community Room of Three Crowns Park at 2323 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston.
In announcing the forum, CSNA President David Staub said “The city needs to know what residents think about Evanston’s budget priorities and CSNA is ready to assist in that process.”
With the city facing tough decisions, CSNA feels that it is critical that every voice be heard and is dedicated to providing an opportunity for neighbors to speak out. CSNA will help facilitate communication of suggestions from the meeting to city officials.
“Getting budget information to the citizens of Evanston and getting questions answered can help us avoid budget missteps and make a good city better by bringing new ideas forward,” added Mark Sloane, the CSNA program chair, who also served as the chairman of the Mayor's Budget Task Force formed in 2009.
This event is open to all CSNA members and the public. Any resident interested in the city’s financial well-being is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served starting at 6:30 p.m.
