Metra North Line riders who are creatures of habit may want to do a double-check or risk missing a train. Effective this last Mon., May 19, the UPRR schedules changed slightly. The former 7:27 out of Central St. now stops at 7:20; 7 other trains before 10 am alter their old stop times by a minute or two, as do some afternoon trains. Other Evanston stops are affected as well, although most Loop arrival times are about the same. Loop departure times are generally the same except that the old 6:35 now runs 9 min. later on each end.

The following are some of the elements of former City Manager Julia Carroll's compensation package, per her "Employment Agreement," dated Dec. 2004:

1. Base salary of $170,000 per year;

2. Moving expenses to relocate to Evanston;

3. Cost of temporary housing (for up to nine months);

4. Interest-free loan of $200,000 to purchase a residence in Evanston;

5. Car allowance up to $500 per month;

The Building and Zoning Department of the City, after considering written evidence as to the past practices of the former White Hen store on Ewing south of Central, has required the new 7-11 management to close their doors at midnight.
